Miracles and Birthdays

Hola! I hope you are doing well. We've officially made it to another Monday! The mission is the fastest and slowest time period of my entire life. I feel like I've been here for years but at the same time 2 days. Anyway, things out here in Winchester, VA have been pretty good this last week.

For starters, this week has been the week of birthdays in our district. Elder Elliott turned 20 yesterday and my comp Elder Nelson turns 20 tomorrow! It's kinda crazy but it's been fun to celebrate with the two of them.
This last week I have had to bring out some of the longsleeve shirts because it is starting to cool off big time here. This last week we got slammed with one of the biggest storms I've ever seen. We didn't lose power, but there were 25 power lines that got knocked down in our area. It was fun to get absoutely soaked in that storm walking around too.
Augustina is still on date to be baptized next week! Please pray for her she needs those prayers.
On Saturday, we had a ton of people come to play soccer with us. It was the most competitive I've seen it here in Winchester and for those of you who know me, I loved it. I've also loved having conversations with Elder Elliott, who might just love soccer more than I do.
This last week we have seen a lot of miracles and the Lord's hand in His work and His glory. I'd like to bear testimony that I know that God lives. That this is His work. I testify that the work of miracles has not ceased among the children of men. I invite you to look for those miracles every day.
As a spiritual thought, I was reading this week in the Book of Mormon in the book of Helaman. In chapter 12, it talks about how the Nephite civilization has fallen into transgression and how the Lord chastens them to stir them up in rememberance of Him. I believe there are two lessons in this chapter.
1. The Lord chastens us because He loves us and wants us to walk on the path of rightousness and blessings. He also desires that we become humble.
2. The natural man in each of us is quick to do evil and slow to remember the Lord their God.
Verse 4 says "O how foolish, and how vain, and how evil, and devilish, and how quick to do iniquity, and how slow to do good, are the children of men; yea, how quick to hearken unto the words of the evil one, and to set their hearts upon the vain things of the world!" Even though this people lived thousands of years ago, we know that their actions will be repeated in our society before the second coming of the Lord. We can see it every day. I know that wickidness never was, never is, and never will be happiness. Sins and disobedience to the commandments of the Lord will only fill us with a hole and will place upon our backs the guilt, shame, and pain that comes from the selfishness of sin. I exhort each of you be clean. If you are not yet clean, know that you can be! I exhort you to get active and get clean and enjoy the limitless blessings the Lord has awaiting you.
