Elder Makay Blackburn was called to serve in the Spanish speaking Baltimore Maryland LDS mission

Elder Blackburn will first be in home MTC, then go to the Provo Mission Training Center then finally onto his mission!

First letter-      December 17th 2021

Oh man, what a week. I know it's been a while since you've heard from me but after being delayed a transfer, I have restarted my missionary experience in the MTC. This whole week I've just felt on fire. Granted, I've been so exhausted this whole week, but every single day I've had this excitement and passion about the gospel that I just didn't have before. My district is awesome of course and I am in a trio with Elder Call and Elder Ruud. Both studs. As I've gotten to know them both a little better, I've been able to see how much we all have in common in relation to struggles. It's been a blessing to be placed with individuals who I know are going to help me through the MTC.
Learning a new language presents a myriad of challenges but I've been able to see the gift of tongues working in each of the members of my district, including myself. For example, we were all praying in Spanish by Thursday this week! As the language progresses I am confident that I will only see those blessings come more and more to light.
With Christmas right around the corner, I wanted to let each of you know how grateful I am. Not only for the time of year, but for Heavenly Father having the compassion and love to send His son to be born and eventually die on this Earth. I know that Jesus Christ was born and that we were all present or watching from above as we witnessed the birth of the Savior. As this time of year comes to a close, make sure to take every opportunity you have to help those around you. Look for ways to cheer up the sad, lift up the downtrodden, and let your light shine forth. I wish each and every one of you a merry Christmas!
