Hola a todos! I hope that each of you have had a wonderful week. Isn't spring just such a wonderful time of the year? I hope for those who have been able to warm up a bit have been able to enjoy the transition between winter and summer. Out here in Maryland we have been enjoying some very nice weather this past week. Saturday was a little different, with a massive thunderstsorm that rolled in for the afternoon.
My heart this morning is filled with gratitude for each and every one of you. I have been reflecting a bit on on my mission and the effect the past 16 months have had on my character and way of being. I am grateful for my Savior and his wonderful patience with me. I than Him for helping to shape and mold me into the man He desires me to be. I also wish to express my gratitude for each of you. You have been a bigger support and influence in my life than you may recognize.
God is real. He loves you. This past week was filled with miracles. Sometimes I think that word gets thrown around a lot in missionary work and can seem mundane. But without a shadow of a doubt I know and testify to each and every one of you that this work is His work. I have seen God place in our path those who are ready to hear the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and have felt the spirit of truth testify to our friends as well as to us of the truthfulness of this work. That spirit is the feeling of peace, love, and rest and comes upon us in moments such as these. I am humbled to know that God trusts me, my Spanish, and my teaching skills enough to allow me to teach His beloved sons and daughters here on the Earth. He trusts you too. Look for the miracles. The more you look, the more you find.
Scripture study. We all know we should do it and we know why, but do we? One of the greatest things I have come to understand on my mission is the great power of diligent and consistent scripture study. One cannot come to know our Savior Jesus Christ in a real and personal way without opening the leather bound books of scripture that sit on your desk. If you truly desire to become the powerful, endowed, spirit-filled saints and representatives of Christ and His church, you have to study the scriptures daily. Every single day. I bear witness of it. If you have a lot going on at work, read. If you have family confict, read. If you're in tight financial circumstances, read. If you just lost a soccer game, read. You will feel the great calming and loving presence of the Holy Ghost enter in to you life and you will receive the strength you need to carry on. You will also feel God changing you to become more like your Savior Jesus Christ. You will have more faith, more hope, more charity and love, more virtue, more knowledge, more patience, more humility, more diligence, and more obedience. Your joy will increase. And you will, little by little, become the son or daughter of God that He desires you to be.
