Hola a todos! I hope all is well. This week has been pretty good out in Frederick Maryland. I just wanted to share some quick stories.
First, one of the most frustrating and confusing things is when you have taught someone everything, and knowing it is completely true, still reject it. Our friend Elmer on baptismal date basically told us he understood the importance of commandments, had a testimony of the book of mormón, but couldn't believe God could help him overcome an addiction to coffee. He couldn't even find the hope and faith to try. The verses that we shared and that came to mind are in alma 32.
26 Now, as I said concerning faith—that it was not a perfect knowledge—even so it is with my words. Ye cannot know of their surety at first, unto perfection, any more than faith is a perfect knowledge.
27 But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words.
Faith can be our biggest strength or our greatest witness. What I have found is the existence of faith or the absence of it is found in every person. There's a reason why faith is the first principle of the gospel. It takes faith to pray, to go to church, to repent, to change, and to live and walk as a disciple of Jesus Christ. The reason why it is so difficult for people to have faith is because it requires humility. More often than not we are too caught up in what our desires are and what we think is right for us that we miss out on the ample opportunities we have to receive blessings.
Some of my favorite verses about faith.
Slowly and surely we have been moving out of winter. It's been a bit chilly this week but the nights are warming up.
