Hola familia! I hope each of you have been enjoying this past week! Some quick updates for you from the MTC. This last week has absolutely flown by. We got the last of our Elders out of quarantine this week so we are back to full strength in our morning volleyball games. In relation to fitness, we've got Elder Ruud bulking in the MTC. Atlanta better watch out. Our morning workouts usually consist of the following: the first half an hour is spent lifting weights and running whereas the last half an hour is spent playing volleyball or basketball.
Outside of fitness, travel plans have been coming in because next week is week 6 of the MTC, which happens to be our last week. I fly out to Baltimore from SLC on Jan. 25 and I am so excited to finally get out there. This week with people coming out of quarantine we had the Hermanas get pretty sick this week so at one point it was just the trio left in our district. We took dinner to the hermanas one night, hence the picture below.
In regards to Spanish I haven't made a ton of progress but this week we were able to have a fluid TRC lesson without too many pauses. We gave one of our Spanish teachers Covid so he has been out this week. Our Spanish tutor has helped us so much though. This being the last week here in the MTC I am looking forward to grinding out as much learning in the language as I can.
Elder Adamms and I are fifth cousins twice removed which is cool. And he just got his reassignment from Calgary to Anchorage, Alaska.
Our district has grown so much closer this week. We have had lots of opportunities to open up and get to know each other a bit more. I am dreading saying goodbye to this group.
Personally I've had a lot of spiritual experiences this week. In the interest of respecting these experiences that the Lord has given me, I will bear witness of the power of the truths I learned and experienced this week. First, the gift of tongues is real. The accelerated learning that I have had as a missionary is solely because of Spiritual support. Second, priesthood power is real. In regards to healing, comfort, and peace, it is an unparalleled power that we have the ability to access.
My spiritual verses for the week are below, excerpts from John 15. I would recommend reading the whole chapter.
10 If ye akeep my commandments, ye shall abide in my blove; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your ajoy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That ye alove one another, as I have bloved you.
13 Greater alove hath no man than this, that a man lay down his blife for his cfriends.
14 Ye are my afriends, if ye do whatsoever I bcommand you.Ye have not chosen me, but I have achosen you, and bordained you, that ye should go and bring forth cfruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my dname, he may give it you.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
18 If the world ahate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the aworld, the world would blove his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
